
HOW TO USE WORM CASTINGS
GARDEN VEGETABLES AND ANNUAL FLOWERS
After making the row furrows or plant hole place 1-2” of castings in the bottom of the furrow or hole. Continue your normal planting process. During the growing season you should side dress the plants with about a cup of worm castings every other month or so.
PERENIALS
Incorporate about a cup to two cups of worm castings depending on the size of the plant into the soil at the base of the plant just above the root zone. This application should be done once in early spring, summer and fall.
POTTING PLANTS AND STARTING SEEDS
Mix one part worm castings and two parts planting soil for the pots for the potting mix.
CONTAINER PLANTS
Add 1-2” of worm castings to the top of the soil in the container. To the extent possible mix the castings into the soil in the container. Repeat this process every other month or so but at least 4 times per year.
PLANTING NEW SHRUBS AND BERRIES
Use one part castings to two parts soil. Place plant into its hole and fill the hole to desired level with this mixture.
ESTABLISHED ROSES, SHRUBS AND BERRIES
Mix 4 cups of castings into the soil below and around each plant
NEW LAWNS
Apply 10 to 15 lbs. of castings per 100 square feet of yard. Water in the material.
ESTABLISHED LAWNS
Top dress the lawn with 10-15 lbs of castings per 100 square feet. Water in the material.
